Sun, sand and shopping! This hugely popular coastal area of Los Angeles
has it all. The 1909 pier in Santa Monica still has its old-fashioned
amusement park which attracts a huge amount of visitors and interest.
The large Ferris wheel and roller-coaster at Pacific Park loom
above the recently restored 1922 carousel which was operated by
the legendry Paul Newman in The Sting. Fascinating Marine exhibits,
Aquariums and modern touch tanks are located at the UCLA Ocean
Discovery Center. A concrete beach path stretches for approximately
26miles and provides the best way of absorbing the atmosphere of
the area.
Third Street Promenade is recognized as Santa Monica’s centre
of entertainment. The promenade consists of four pedestrianized blocks
of cafes, shops and movie theatres. For a more cultural experience,
Main Street boasts trendy restaurants, art galleries and the California
Heritage Museum at Ocean Park.
South of Santa Monica lies the quieter and more peaceful Malibu.
With its 27mles of beautiful sandy beaches and canyons, Malibu tends
to attract the more romantic holidaymaker. Although many celebrities
frequent the area, the main attraction lies in the fantastic surf
and relaxed way of life. |
