Back in the 1930’s and 1940’s, Hollywood Boulevard
was world renowned for its glitz and glamour. However, a five decade
period of decline left Tinseltown in a much less desirable state.
A massive facelift was then to take place in an attempt to restore
it to its former glory. One of the first areas to be re-vamped was
the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. Near to the
fine Mann’s Chinese Theatre, the new and ultra-modern Hollywood-Highland
complex was erected. This provides fabulous open-air retail and entertainment
with stunning views of the Hollywood Sign. This is a must-see for
anyone visiting the area.
The very impressive 3500-seat Kodak Theatre now hosts the Academy
Awards ceremony and is well worth a gander. The concrete courtyard
of Mann’s Chinese Theatre boasts the hand, foot, hoof and leg
imprints of many world-famous stars. Various other sites of interest
are, the Hollywood Entertainment Museum, the Hollywood Wax Museum,
which boasts quite a wide selection of celebrity wax figures, and
the Hollywood Guinness World of Records Museum. This one in particular
tends to be a favorite with kids. |
