GRIFFITH PARK

Lying in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains, Griffith Park is the largest municipal park in America. It boasts an amphitheatre-style Greek Theatre, a favorite outdoor concert venue and the famous Griffith Observatory which has an astronomy museum. The copper-domed observatory has arguably the best views of the Hollywood sign and overlooks the entire city.
The park offers a huge variety of stunning scenery and things to do. It is advised to obtain a map from the Ranger Station in order to make the most of the excursion. If you are the sporty type, there are an impressive 28 tennis courts and four golf courses to keep you occupied. Near the Los Feliz exit, there are miniature train rides and children’s pony rides. There is also an antique merry-go-round near the Ranger Station, which kids absolutely love. Plenty of picnic areas are located throughout the park for a bite to eat after all that hard playing. Further north lies the Los Angeles Zoo, which has 1200 animals on 77 landscaped acres. There is also an Equestrian centre which rents out American quarter horses. Sunset Ranch offers escorted moonlight rides for the more romantic type.
All in all, Griffith Park, with over 4000 acres, is a fantastic day out and has something for everyone.
